For years, I was a successful video game influencer, living comfortably and building a life with my girlfriend. But life has a way of throwing unexpected curveballs.
In 2020, a trusted friend and business partner disappeared after securing $7500 from me to invest in a joint venture. It was a devastating blow, both financially and emotionally, and it was just the beginning of a downward spiral. My credit score plummeted, and I lost my job amidst company-wide layoffs due to the pandemic. Without a steady income, my girlfriend and I were forced out of our apartment, and we had to rely on our aging car and crashing on friend’s couches.
In 2022, we decided to settle down again, looking for a place to call home. But as we attempted to rebuild, we fell victim to a rental scam, losing $1000 of our hard-earned money. Each setback has been a blow to our financial stability and our spirits.
