A Plea for Miley: Help Give a Little Princess Her Second Chance at Life

A Plea for Miley: Help Give a Little Princess Her Second Chance at Life

Dear friends and kind-hearted souls,

Today, I come to you with a story that has touched my heart deeply. It’s about a little girl named Miley, a 3-year-old princess from the Teitelbaum family who is fighting a battle that no child should ever have to face.

Miley has been diagnosed with Portal Hypertension, a rare and severe medical condition that affects the development of the fetal portal venous vein. Earlier this year, she underwent a grueling 10-hour surgery in Chicago, a beacon of hope that promised to resolve her condition. But life, as we know, often has its own plans. The surgery did not succeed as hoped, and Miley’s condition remains critical.

Every day, Miley endures the pain of injections, the discomfort of bruises, and the constant vigilance to prevent further injury. Her brave little heart continues to beat, her spirit remains unbroken, but her body is in desperate need of help. The doctors are preparing for another attempt at surgery, and if that fails, a different procedure known as a splenorenal shunt will be tried. Eventually, Miley will need a liver transplant.

The Teitelbaum family, based in Arizona, will have to travel to and from Chicago for the procedure and all the follow-ups. They will need to stay in Chicago for an unknown duration during the new lengthy surgery. Every 2 months for the next 5 years, they will need to travel back for follow-ups, staying for 2 weeks each time. This means losing work and arranging and funding childcare for their other children while they are away.

The financial burden of this journey is immense. Travel, accommodation, lost work, childcare – the costs are substantial. But the cost of not acting, of not giving Miley a chance at a healthy, happy future, is unthinkable.

This is where we come in. This is where we can make a difference. The Teitelbaums are not asking for miracles – they are asking for help. Any amount you can contribute will go a long way in helping them manage these expenses. They have also set up the option for monthly contributions. If we can get a few dozen donors committing to monthly donations for a few years, it would be a great act of kindness (Chesed) and carry this family through this challenging experience.

Let’s come together to give Miley a second chance at life. Let’s show her that the world is full of kindness and love. Let’s help her family navigate this difficult journey. Please, contribute to this crucial cause. Every dollar, every share, every prayer counts.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. And if you choose to help, thank you for your generosity. May you be blessed in return.
